🎄 Caring for Your Christmas Tree
With a little care, your Nordmann Fir will stay fresh, full, and festive all season long!
When you unwrap your tree:
Give it a gentle shake once the netting is removed to let any loose “travel needles” fall away. If it’s below freezing, wait until it warms up before unwrapping to avoid damaging the branches.
Cut Trees:
Keep your tree outdoors in a cool, shaded spot (ideally standing in water) until you’re ready to bring it inside. Before setting up, trim about half an inch off the base to help it drink better. Stand it in a water-holding base, keep it away from radiators, and top up the water every day — your tree will be thirstier than you think!
Bare Root, Containerised & Potted Trees:
These smaller trees come with their roots intact. Soak the roots before potting them into moist soil and keep the soil damp throughout the festive period. Keep them away from direct heat, and with a little luck, they might even thrive if planted outside afterwards.
Container-Grown (Living) Trees:
These are grown entirely in their pots and are usually under 3ft tall. Treat them like any houseplant — keep them watered and away from heat sources. After Christmas, you can either plant them out in the garden or re-pot them into a larger pot so they can keep growing for next year.
